I believe the most meaningful experiences aren't always found in grand adventures or luxurious destinations, but in the quiet rituals of ordinary life—a morning spent in the garden, a beautifully designed cottage, dinner around the table, a walk through a new town, or the familiar comfort of a place that simply makes you feel at home.
For more than twelve years, I've built my career around one simple idea: that every detail matters. As the founder of The Tiny Spa, I've learned that the experiences people remember most are often shaped by the smallest gestures—the warmth of a welcome, the comfort of a thoughtfully prepared space, the rhythm of an afternoon, or the feeling of being genuinely cared for. Today, I bring that same philosophy to my travels, my writing, my photography, and my work helping hospitality owners create unforgettable guest experiences.

Meet Jamie
I'm Jamie—a photographer, writer, hospitality consultant, and the founder of The Tiny Spa, where I've spent more than twelve years creating thoughtful guest experiences rooted in the belief that the smallest details often leave the greatest impression.
The East Experience is where all of my passions come together. Through photography, travel, home and garden, and personal essays, I share the places, people, and everyday moments that remind us to slow down and notice the beauty around us. I also partner with Airbnb, VRBO, and boutique hospitality owners to help them create unforgettable experiences their guests will remember long after they've returned home.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: a beautiful life isn't built from extraordinary moments alone—it's created through the ordinary experiences we choose to notice.

The East Edit is the editorial heart of The East Experience, where I share my photography, personal essays, travels, garden stories, and the things I’m loving, wearing, reading, growing, and bringing home.
Every Friday, a new East Edit arrives on Substack—a thoughtfully curated note filled with beautiful finds, personal recommendations, seasonal inspiration, and little things that have caught my eye or captured my heart. You’ll also find The Sunday Bloom, where flowers, gardening, and the simple joy of bringing nature inside take center stage.

Gardens Near & Far

Gardens have always felt a little magical to me. Through Gardens Near & Far, I photograph and tell the stories of gardens here in North Carolina, across the country, and eventually around the world—from grand destination gardens to the beautifully imperfect backyard spaces lovingly tended over generations.
My garden photography is also available beyond these stories through a growing collection of fine-art prints, stationery, and paper goods created from photographs taken in my own garden and the beautiful places I encounter along the way.
My hope is simple: to preserve a little piece of the garden and give you a way to bring it home.
Hospitality
Helping special places become unforgettable stays.
After more than a decade of creating thoughtful guest experiences through The Tiny Spa, I’m bringing that same attention to detail into the world of travel and hospitality.
I partner with Airbnb and VRBO hosts, boutique inns, cottages, and other independently owned stays to experience their property through the eyes of both a guest and a hospitality professional. Through an in-depth review of the stay—from booking and arrival to comfort, atmosphere, amenities, communication, and those tiny details guests remember—I identify what is already working beautifully and where thoughtful changes could elevate the overall experience.
But this is more than an evaluation.
I also bring my camera and creative eye into the space, styling and photographing the property in a way that captures what it feels like to stay there. Fresh flowers, morning coffee, beautiful light, a thoughtfully styled bedside table—the quiet moments that help a future guest imagine themselves already there.
Hosts receive actionable recommendations alongside a collection of beautifully styled, editorial photographs they can use to tell the story of their property and create an experience guests want to return to.
